For the Food Service Field, we now expect the number of participants in the Specified Skilled Worker (i) program to exceed the projected number (limited to 50,000 people) by around May of this year, so from April 13 of this year onward, we will suspend the issuance of Certificates of Eligibility for Status of Residence.

Note:
• You do not need to pass this test if you have satisfactorily completed Technical Intern Training (ii) for this field. To confirm which occupations qualify, please see the “Operational Guidelines for Accepting Foreign Nationals as Specified Skilled Workers in Specific Fields.”

Japanese language proficiency

Japan Foundation Test for Basic Japanese or the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (N4 or higher)
Note:
• You do not need to pass a Japanese language proficiency test if you have satisfactorily completed Technical Intern Training (ii) for any industry.
